Paige came to us looking to elevate her design and for help in taking her modern and fun aesthetic and blending it with her mother’s more refined traditional style. Nothing excites us more than a challenge and the results were flawless! The design began with Paige’s color selection which is much like her personality bold and bright! We love color especially bold color so we were immediately inspired by her Coral and Navy choice!
Here’s where we began, by creating a general color board:
We started collaborating centerpiece ideas with Kelly of Crimson Petal to fuse together modern yet traditional. Kelly designed centerpieces that consisted of white candelabras which nod to the traditional side but created a whimsical cascade of flowers that took the centerpiece to a more modern place. We also had centerpieces that consisted of various levels of white ceramic cylinders with rhinestone detail. Again, the ceramic quality of the cylinders is a tad modern but the rhinestone detail made it mesh well with the candelabras.
Kelly’s use of coral in the flowers was also just what we were looking for!
The weather was looking strange all morning, and the weather channel kept telling us it was going to blow past. As we were setting up for the ceremony on the terrace of the Hyatt downtown, the sky turned black and the torrential downpour began! We kept our cool and knew it wouldn’t last long, and instead of calling the ceremony indoors, we saw a little glimpse of blue through the black and knew it was going to be ok. Shortly after it began, it ended, and we mopped up and started setup again! And we were blue skies from there on out.
The room was filled with coral uplighting to create a real transition from the outdoor ceremony to the indoor reception. After the ceremony was cleared, this became an area for guests to dance and mingle. The floor lit up in white light and the weather was unbelievably perfect. We left the entire wall open all evening to create an indoor-outdoor experience.
Paige wanted to surprise Josh with just one thing – a visit from Fred Bird of the St Louis Cardinals. Let’s just say, he was surprised, and very pleased.
Paige really wanted a fun and unique element for her wedding. We researched many options but when we found Strange Donuts we knew we had a winner! Sure people have seen donut bars but these “strange” donuts are unlike anything you have ever heard of, much less tasted. Their flavor names alone make your mouth water. Paige and Josh were able to offer creative flavors such as strawberry lemonade, nutella, peanut butter oreo, ooey gooey and even a smore’s donut with real roasted marshmallows! The guests devoured the entire table in approximately 15 minutes flat.
We had so much fun planning for Paige and Josh and were so happy to help create a wedding that was both everything Paige ever dreamed of and everything her mother ever dreamed of for her! Thanks for letting us be part of your big day, Paige and Josh!
