Jen + Jay: How EL Does ‘Rustic Chic’

Jen and Jay are our little sweethearts. Really! They are just the sweetest and most darling couple you’ll ever find. We always told Jen she is so little and cute you want to just put her in your pocket and feed her an M&M a day!

Jay was just the best too. We loved that he had some opinions while planning but we loved even more that ultimately his opinions revolved around making Jen happy. Sweet huh?! Told you.

It was our privilege to be able to plan for this couple for a year and half! Jen also had the support of her awesome sister who we also loved. It was actually her sister’s advice that brought Jen to us. Jen’s sister told her that looking back she wished she had a wedding coordinator. Luckily, Jen followed her advice and she was led to us. It was our mission to keep things “easy breezy” for our Jen. While she is as sweet as the glaze on a donut, too many decisions can give her anxiety. For this reason she gave us full reign of her planning. She expressed to us that she liked rustic elements like burlap and babies breath with light vintage color hues of lavender and sage. However, we quickly learned that there were two sides to our Jen. She was rustic but fancy too! This is when it got really fun! We were able to create the perfect juxtaposition of rustic-meets-elegant that had everyone raving!

We’re not sure why but, something about Jen’s petite silhouette made us picture her dancing and twirling beneath twinkling lights…and from that, the dance floor fixture was born. Millennium Productions created a romantic drape of twinkling lights to highlight the dance floor. We also had Millennium hang four burlap curtain panels at each corner of the dance floor to anchor the look and of course compliment the burlap table runners. STUNNING!

The tables were dressed in a “rustic” fabric linen with gold foil stamping from Wildflower Linen. When we saw this linen we knew it was the element that was going to marry the rustic element of the burlap with the elegance of the gold candle holders used in the centerpieces.

We just loved the centerpieces created by Tina of The Special Event Florist. She really captured the dressed up rustic tone of this wedding. We had dreamed of a hanging centerpiece that mimicked draping wisteria. What Tina created from that idea exceeded what we had imagined. The hanging head table centerpiece was dreamy and elegant yet still ‘organic’ which made it blend right in with the room.

Our sweetest couple must have a sweets table right? Sarah’s Cake Shop did wonders incorporating the wedding colors into the most delectable desserts! We arranged and displayed the sweets on elegant vintage rentals from Finch Vintage which we surrounded with more gorgeous flowers from Tina.

All of the stationery was provided by Wiregrass Weddings. The invitations were custom-tailored to our design with burlap ribbon and a gold lace overlay embellishment. Each stationery element carried the lavender sprigs for continuity. I can’t get enough of this stationery!

The ceremony at St Luke the Evangelist went off without a hitch.

We loved the way the bouquets turned out by The Special Event Florist. They were just completely perfect with the amazing shade of sage we chose for the bridesmaids.
